Obama lied; the economy died

I cannot wait for this bumper sticker to come out. Oh wait...it won't. I forgot that we can't say or do anything that might offend the Almighty Obama. Well, until recently, that is. It seems that more and more people who whole-heartedly supported Obama and the democratic ideals he represented are starting to see the light. They are starting to see that he really meant it when he said, "America is the greatest country in the world. Now help me change it."

Please see the clip below of one of my favorite people, Jim Cramer (even though he's a democrat, I still enjoy his show). He points out that Obama's "radical agenda" is leading to the "greatest destruction of wealth by a president" that he's ever seen. HELLO. DOES ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE SEE THAT? The Dow, one of the measures of the wealth of our economy, is at the lowest levels seen in over 10 years. And it's dropped over 3,000 points since Obama was elected. Think these two events are coincidince? Think again. It's a simple case of cause and effect.

HE LIED. To everyone. It's OK if you realize your mistake. Many people fell for his eloquence and promise of change. (You are hopefully realizing by now, though, that not all change is good!) But what's not OK is if you aren't upset right now. And if you aren't doing something about it. Whether or not you made the mistake of believing this guy and supporting him at the polls, we need to work together and do what we can to fix the situation. Don't sit on the sidelines and complain. Get off your duff and try to stop - or slow down - the socialist man running (more like ruining) our country.

3/6/09: Click here for an update on why Jim Cramer isn't worried about being on the "enemies list" of the White House. It's because he wants people to make money!

believe what you want, but Obama did not do this...we the people need to take some of the blame. If it makes you feel better, then good for you. So if McCain were in office, everything would be great?

Thanks for your comment! This is not about me or about you feeling better. Yes, some of the blame lies with individuals in this country but I am not personally taking any blame. I pay my bills on time, I live within my means, and I SAVE money. I work hard and do what is not always fun, but is conservative, with my money.

Again, though, this is not about you or me feeling better but rather about us working together to stop the train wreck that is going on with our gov't.

Please take a minute to review the following article: http://www.ajc.com/opinion/content/printedition/2009/03/01/suwooten0301.html

Many of the same actions that were taken by FDR are being taken by Obama. And there is a good likelihood that with his anti-capitalistic, big gov't, increase in taxes, and out-of-control pork spending that America doesn't need right now (or ever), that our country will suffer a prolonged recession and even a depression.

Obama is anti-capitalism and that is why ppl have taken their money (What is left of it) out of the markets and hidden it under the mattresses. Obama and his "radical" policies are to blame, nothing else. His taxes on those "evil people" making more than $250 will make people - and businesses - lay off people just to ensure the survival of their business. Companies WANT to expand and to grow but Obama is not creating an environment for that. Instead, he is working hard to destroy it.

I'm not saying that we'd be in a perfect place with McCain, but most-likely it would be a better place than where we are now. What I am saying, however, is that we'd be in a BETTER place without Obama in power.

Anonymous,

If McCain had been elected and was doing the same thing Obama is doing I would be just as upset. It doesn't matter who is in office. Taxing and spending is no way to get us out of this. I'm the first to admit that Obama did not get us into this. However, he'd doing nothing to get us out of it. He's punishing the producers in this country and rewarding the losers with MY money. Try taking emotion out of this and think about it rationally. What have past Presidents done to get out of this? Have you read the "stimulus bill?" That money is your money and my money and our kids and grandkids will have to pay back. Why is it that you think government is the answer? They're a bunch of morons. all of them.

I certainly do not think that in one short month, well 6 weeks actually, Obama has messed everything up. No, nothing has been fixed, yet but until all of this plays out I really do not think we will know. I think the whole US is in a BIG mess and government is just part of it. It just plain sucks, no matter how you look at it. Obama or no Obama, it sucks. My approach is to try and do what I can do to make my situation and those I love better. It is not our fault if we lose our job due to cuts or layoffs and if we do, I will be one happy camper that we can get unemployment and healthcare for my family. How would you feel about this situation is you and dennis were both laid off and about to deliver connor? Would you be happy at least that Obama "spent" to provide you decent unemployment and healthcare?

Katie,

You make some good points. If we were both laid off, God Forbid, I can tell you for certain that I would not rely on the government to fix my problem. I would get every open shift they had a walmart, mcdonalds, etc until we were up on our feet again. Also, we have a nice reserve fund in place in case the worst case scenario were to unfold. it basically comes down to making the right decisions throughout life and not relying on government, regardless of whether a democrat or republican is in office. The government doesnt create wealth. period. In the words of good ole Dave Ramsey "government is nothing more than a parasite." What if someone came to you and said, "Hey Katie, you have two cars. Bob down the street doesn't have a car. it's only "fair" that we take one of yours and give it to him." It's the same thing that they are doing with our money. It's stealing. plain and simple.

Katie - I love these conversations. I always love hearing and thinking about what the "other side" thinks/feels.

I am not just making these comments without a back up. PLEASE watch the video and click on the link at the bottom of the post for WHY the stock market is dropping so significantly. Obama is doing a lot of things, including spending, spending, spending, that are causing it. Please, seriously, look at Jim Cramer's input (and he's a financial expert) on why and how Obama has created this. He was a die-hard Obama supporter up until he took office.

And, ppl always say history is the best teacher. Well, in past experiences, when the economy has been in a bad spot, spending and increased taxes (which often lead to layoffs)did NOT fix the situation. The era of Reagan - tax cuts, deregulation, and focus on free enterprise rather than gov't controlled enterprise - led to great wealth in our country and a growing economy. The DOW is one measure of the wealth of our economy and it is sinking quickly b/c of how ppl are reacting to Obama's non-financially friendly policies.

All in all, the gov't doesn't do anything efficently or effectively. They can't even run the postal service well - - they are talking about needing to cut it down to 5 days a week rather than 6. I GUARANTEE that a private company could find a way to make it work. Y'know why, b/c they are motivated by competition and in the end, by money. And, in all honestly, since ppl in gov't (rep's & dem's alike) aren't spending "their" money, I can see how spending would easily get out of control and how easy it would be to lose sight of the end goal: helping America to be the best and strongest country that it can.

The differences between your opinion and mine is that you seem to think that more gov't is better. I believe just the opposite. I think we need to follow the constitution and realize that the gov't is not supposed to try to get into the banking industry or healthcare industry or anything like that. I am terrified of where our country is going now healthcare wise. Look at what's happened in other countries - high, high prices on everything (b/c the gov't increases taxes on companies, "achievers", so that cost is passed on to ppl like you and me when we buy something made by that company) and poor quality care. Let's get back to the constitution and not have the gov't meddle where it isn't supposed to be!

Oh, and the unemployment benefits now are already very generous. Too generous. They create the free rider problem - -ppl have no motivation to go to work at McDonalds or Wal-Mart b/c they get more staying at home and having babies. I'd rather stay at home than go to work - - especially if I was getting paid for it! That's why I think a short type of unemployment benefits are very generous and we do NOT need to extend them.

Increasing taxes and taking from me to give to others is robbery. It truly is.

An Israeli doctor said to a medical conference, "Medicine in my country
isso advanced, we can take a kidney out of one person, put it into
another and have him looking for work in six weeks!"

The German doctor stood up and said, "Well medicine in my county is so
advanced, we can take a lung out of one person and put it into another
and have him looking for work on 4 weeks"

The Russian doctor got up and said "My country is even more advanced, we
can remove half a heart from one person, put it into another and have them
both looking for work in just 2 weeks!"

Not to be outdone, the American doctor stood up and addressed the
conference, "Well", he said, "My country is so far advanced in
medicine, we can take an Asshole out of Chicago , put him in the White
House, and have half the country looking for work in 24 hours!"

LET THE PRIVATE SECTOR DO WHAT IT DOES BEST

Have you heard the news about Wal-Mart? Whenever I mention Wal-Mart, most liberals start rolling their eyes ... it is "anti-union" or it is an "evil corporation." Well Wal-Mart has decided to enter into the world of digitized healthcare data by unveiling its own version of high-tech medical records.
Only get this ... Wal-Mart can do it cheaper and faster than the government can! Now if this surprises you it's evident you haven't been paying attention.

A Wal-Mart spokesperson says the company is partnering with Dell and software maker eClinicalWorks to launch a bundled electronic health records package for doctors. The package will include installation and maintenance and it will be offered through the company's Sam's Club discount-warehouse division, which caters to small businesses.
And guess what .. it will be launched by this spring. Just how fast do you think the government could get this done?
Lesson? In virtually every field, every endeavor ... the private sector can get it done faster and more efficiently than government. The problem is that if the private sector accomplishes a worthy goal, the private sector gets the credit. If government does it, no matter how badly, the government gets the credit. This man in the White House loves government. America, to him, is government. You cannot allow the private sector to do something that government can do. It weakens government .. and this doesn't make Democrats happy.
